BP4_Little Bird Tales
Little bird tales is a tool in which one can create a story as well as illustrations to go with it. Upon signing up you have the options to create a story, View others stories or create/ manage your class. As a teacher I can use this interactive tool to encourage my students to write and be creative. Allowing them to view others’ projects will give them new ideas and hopefully broaden their mind in terms of what they believe they can accomplish. I like that students can even add audio recordings to their story. I think that this will be especially good for my Kindergarten students because sometimes they misspell words. If I require them to add their audio recording to their story others will be able to know what they meant to write. They can also keep it as a keepsake to look back at when they are older.
I decided to test out the site. The first thing I did was I created a story of my own. It was easy for me but I do understand that it will be a lot more difficult for them to understand the concept of creating an online storybook. I figure we could do a few as a whole class first.
Next I decided to set up my class. I just did a test class to try it out. That was also an easy task. It would probably take you a minute to input the information for each student.
The last thing I did was to watch a storybook that someone on the site made and posted. It was about a trip she took. I started to think that we could even use this tool to learn about other places and different experiences that people have.
I think that this is a wonderful learning tool and resource for teachers and students of all ages and I will definitely be using this one with my students.
BP3_Quizlet
Quizlet.com is a very easy to use website that allows you to create flashcards and quizzes. It also allows you to view and play works that others have created. Upon entering the site you will be able to choose whether you would like to view others work or create your own. I decide to look and see what others had created first. You can type in a topic in the search box and everything related to that topic will show up. It was very simple and to the point. I viewed the flash cards and played the games attached to it. After that I decide to create flash cards for onset and rime, as my kindergarten friends need to learn that. It was easy to create the flash cards and this is when I realized that you don’t have to create the games. Once you create the flashcards the program creates the games. Creating the test was easy and the program gives you a variety of choices when creating tests. The only thing that I did not like was when I wrote the words in onset- rime form the audio said the name of the letter instead of the sound the letter makes. Also the test does not cater for audio test questions. This would make it impossible for students to work independent of the teacher for this particular topic. I think they should tweak the program so that the people who create the flashcards could add audio to it. Overall I think this is a wonderful teacher and student Web 2.0 tool. I see myself using this one.

PE3_iMovie
I always wanted to know how the green screen effect works. Of all the things I learned from the tutorial I think this is by far my favorite thing. I tried to use it by recording in a room in my house that has a pale blue color but it did not work. So I went on the Internet and found a picture of these children on a green screen and tried it out. It really works. I am so excited!!!! I can’t wait to fully use this tool. I guess I need to go and buy a green or blue sheet. Technology is amazing….once you figure it out. Over all I feel so much more informed and ready to tackle the world of visual media.
PE2_iMovie
The more I watch the more I fall in love with I movie. I never realized what great editing features were available. The option of splitting your clip is great and transitions definitely help make the video look more professional. I knew about the transitions before but I found it informative to know which transitions work better for certain parts of your project. What I did not know was that you could adjust the color of your clips and stabilize the video. I did a project and the lighting was not well. I could have benefited from this tool. Originally I knew nothing about changing the amount of red, blue or green in a video or picture. I also had no idea you could adjust certain aspects of the video without adjusting the whole image. How cool is that. I also think the stabilizer is a neat tool. I usually use the tripod so my videos are pretty stable but it is good to know what to do if I ever end up with a shaky video.
